Domestic production of bitumen in the global market

The main source of bitumen production in the world is crude oil. Refining of crude oil in refineries leads to the production of bitumen. However, crude oil is not the only source of bitumen production. Part of the world’s bitumen is of natural origin. This company is one of the largest producers of bitumen in the country, which is active in the production of various types of bitumen in the country with years of experience. Domestic production of bitumen and its exports to other countries cause the country’s economy to flourish.

Why does bitumen get hot?

Why does bitumen get hot? The main source of bitumen production in the world is crude oil. Refining of crude oil in refineries leads to the production of bitumen. However, crude oil is not the only source of bitumen production. Part of the world’s bitumen is of natural origin. In general, the method of production and bitumen mining has a direct impact on its quality and physical properties. Bitumens that have different sources differ in terms of the degree of hardness, degree of penetration, viscosity, and adhesion.

Bitumens produced in refineries are produced in two ways (Straight Run) and (Air Blowing). The method (Air Blowing) is used when the raw material of bitumen (feed) does not have the expected properties. In this case, by blowing air into the raw material (feed) at a temperature between 200º-190º ° C, products with modified properties are produced. Refinery bitumens come in many forms, including:

  • Infiltration bitumens
  •  Viscosity bitumens
  •  Emulsion bitumens
  •  Oxidized bitumens
  •  Polymeric bitumens

Bitumen is one of the most widely used products produced from crude oil. This hydrocarbon material has more than 250 different applications and is used in various industries to insulate and protect surfaces from moisture. To use bitumen in various industries, if the bitumen is solid or semi-solid, it is heated to 176 degrees Celsius to be usable. The most important application of bitumen is its use as a binder for stone grains in asphalt production and road construction.

More than 85% of the bitumen produced worldwide is used for asphalt and road construction. The bitumen temperature range used to produce and execute different types of asphalt is different. As a result, the choice of bitumen and bitumen temperature range affects the efficiency of bitumen during operation and also the final result. Bitumen acts like a viscous liquid at high temperatures (typically between 100 and 200 degrees Celsius).

Domestic demand for bitumen in 2020

Domestic demand for bitumen in 2020 In today’s advanced world, bitumen produced in refineries has a very high quality, but over the years, the use of this precious material has changed the least and, as in the past, bitumen is most used in the road construction industry. Domestic demand for bitumen in 2020 has increased significantly due to the increase in road construction. Bitumen-made asphalt today provides very smooth and safe roads for light and heavy vehicles and quality runways for landing and take-off of aircraft and even excellent rail infrastructure for trains.
